# Romistry Terms of Service

## 1. Acceptance of These Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Romistry ("Romistry", "the App", "we", "us", or "our"), an interactive storytelling and writing platform operated by William du Plooy.
By creating an account, accessing or using Romistry, or creating or publishing content through Romistry, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree with these Terms, you must not use Romistry.
You must also comply with any applicable laws and regulations when using Romistry.
## 2. Eligibility and Age Requirement
Romistry is intended for adults.
You must be at least **18 years old** to create an account or use Romistry.
By creating an account, you confirm that:
* you are at least 18 years old;
* the information you provide is accurate to the extent required to use the service; and
* you are legally permitted to use Romistry in your jurisdiction.
We may restrict, suspend, or terminate accounts where we reasonably believe that a user is under the minimum permitted age.
## 3. About Romistry
Romistry is an interactive storytelling platform.
Users can select or begin stories, create fictional characters or avatars, and continue stories through conversations with an artificial-intelligence system.
The AI may generate fictional text and story developments in response to the user's inputs and the context of the story.
AI-generated material is fictional and should not be treated as factual, professional, legal, medical, financial, or other expert advice.
## 4. AI-Generated Content
Romistry uses third-party artificial-intelligence technology to generate responses and continue interactive stories.
AI-generated content may be inaccurate, inappropriate, unexpected, offensive, or inconsistent with the user's intentions.
The AI does not have independent knowledge of the real world and should not be relied upon as an authoritative source of information.
Romistry does not guarantee that every AI-generated response will be accurate, appropriate, complete, or suitable for a particular purpose.
Romistry may implement technical safeguards, content restrictions, moderation systems, and other controls designed to prevent prohibited or harmful content from being generated.
## 5. Prohibited Sexual and Other Content
Romistry is an adult-oriented storytelling service, but it does not permit content that violates applicable law or Google Play's applicable content policies.
Users must not use Romistry to create, request, publish, or distribute:
* pornography or explicitly sexually gratifying material;
* sexual content involving minors or characters represented as minors;
* sexual exploitation or abuse;
* non-consensual sexual content;
* sexual content involving real persons without their consent;
* sexualized deepfakes or manipulated intimate material;
* bestiality;
* content that facilitates sexual exploitation;
* content that promotes illegal sexual activity;
* instructions or material intended to facilitate serious wrongdoing;
* content that encourages or facilitates child sexual abuse or exploitation.
Romistry may restrict, modify, remove, or prevent the generation or publication of content that violates these requirements.
## 6. User-Generated Content
Romistry allows users to create fictional stories, characters, avatars and other content ("User Content").
Before creating or publishing User Content, users must comply with these Terms and any content guidelines presented by Romistry.
Users are responsible for the User Content they create, submit, save, or publish.
Users must not submit User Content that:
* violates the law;
* infringes another person's intellectual-property rights;
* contains non-consensual intimate material;
* exploits or endangers children;
* impersonates another person in a deceptive or harmful manner;
* constitutes harassment, threats, bullying, or abuse;
* promotes criminal activity;
* contains malicious software or harmful code;
* contains private or confidential information belonging to another person without authorization;
* violates these Terms or applicable platform policies.
## 7. Publication of Stories
Users may have the option to publish stories so that they can be viewed by other Romistry users.
Published stories may include the fictional character/avatar information associated with the story.
Users are not required to publish their real-world identity as part of a story.
Users are responsible for ensuring that anything they publish complies with these Terms.
Users may unpublish their stories when the applicable functionality is available.
## 8. Content Moderation and Reporting
Romistry maintains moderation procedures designed to address objectionable or prohibited User Content.
Users may report stories or other content through the reporting functionality provided within Romistry.
Reported content may be reviewed by Romistry personnel.
We may, at our discretion, remove, restrict, unpublish, modify, or otherwise limit access to content that we reasonably believe violates these Terms, applicable law, or applicable platform requirements.
We may also suspend or terminate accounts associated with serious or repeated violations.
Romistry does not guarantee that every item of User Content will be reviewed before it becomes available to other users.
## 9. Blocking and Content Controls
Romistry may provide functionality allowing users to hide, block, filter, report, or otherwise restrict access to particular stories or content.
These tools are provided to help users control the content they encounter.
They do not guarantee that users will never encounter objectionable material.
## 10. Your Rights in Your Content
You retain ownership of User Content that you create, subject to any rights belonging to third parties.
By submitting or publishing User Content through Romistry, you grant Romistry a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, process, display, and transmit that content solely as reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, secure, moderate, and provide the Romistry service.
This licence ends when the relevant content is deleted, except to the extent that temporary technical copies remain as part of ordinary system backups or where retention is required by law.
You represent that you have the rights necessary to provide the User Content to Romistry.
## 11. Avatars and Character Information
Romistry allows users to create fictional characters and avatars.
Users should not use the service to impersonate real people in a deceptive, harmful, or unlawful manner.
Users are responsible for ensuring that images, names, descriptions, and other material used in their avatars do not infringe third-party rights.
## 12. Account Information
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
Passwords are stored using secure one-way password hashing.
You must not share your account credentials or knowingly allow another person to use your account in a manner that violates these Terms.
You should notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
## 13. Coins and In-App Purchases
Romistry may provide virtual coins that are used to access certain AI-powered interactions.
Romistry may provide free coins, including promotional or daily allocations.
Unless otherwise stated within the App, free coins have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for money.
If paid coin purchases are introduced, those purchases will be subject to the applicable payment terms and policies of Google Play and the applicable payment system used by Romistry.
Virtual coins are digital goods and, when purchased through the Google Play version of Romistry, may be subject to Google Play's billing requirements.
Currently, paid coin purchases may not be available.
We reserve the right to change the amount of free coins provided, the number of coins required for a feature, or other aspects of the virtual-currency system, subject to applicable law.
## 14. No Guarantee of Availability
We do not guarantee that Romistry or any particular feature will always be available.
The service may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, technical problems, network failures, third-party service interruptions, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features of Romistry.
## 15. Third-Party Services
Romistry uses third-party services, including artificial-intelligence services, to provide certain functionality.
Your use of Romistry may therefore involve the processing of information by those third parties as described in our Privacy Policy.
We are not responsible for the independent practices, policies, availability, or content of third-party services.
## 16. No Professional Advice
Romistry is an entertainment and creative-writing platform.
AI-generated responses and User Content are not professional advice.
You should not rely on content generated through Romistry as a substitute for professional medical, legal, financial, psychological, or other professional advice.
## 17. Intellectual Property
Romistry's software, interface, branding, logos, design elements, and other materials provided by Romistry remain the property of William du Plooy or their respective rights holders.
Except as expressly permitted by these Terms or applicable law, users may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, sell, or commercially exploit Romistry or its proprietary components.
## 18. Account Suspension and Termination
You may stop using Romistry at any time.
You may delete your account through the account-deletion functionality provided in the App or through the applicable account-deletion facility on the Romistry website.
We may suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe that you:
* violate these Terms;
* violate applicable law;
* misuse the service;
* submit prohibited content;
* attempt to circumvent security or usage restrictions; or
* create a risk to other users, Romistry, or third parties.
Where appropriate and reasonably practicable, we may provide notice before termination, but we may act immediately where necessary to protect users, comply with law, or address serious violations.
## 19. Account Deletion
Users may delete their accounts through the available in-app account-deletion functionality or through the Romistry website.
When an account is deleted, Romistry will delete the account and associated information, including the user's stored conversations, avatar information, stories, and published stories, subject to any temporary technical copies or information that must be retained by law.
## 20. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Romistry is provided on an "as available" basis without warranties that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, accurate, or suitable for every user or purpose.
We do not guarantee that AI-generated content will meet a user's expectations.
## 21. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, William du Plooy will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of Romistry.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by applicable law.
## 22. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
When material changes are made, we may provide notice through the App, website, or another reasonable method.
Your continued use of Romistry after updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
## 23. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the **Republic of South Africa**, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Subject to any mandatory rights available to consumers under applicable law, disputes relating to these Terms or Romistry shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa.

## 25. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect to the extent permitted by law.
## 26. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional terms expressly incorporated into Romistry, constitute the agreement between you and Romistry concerning your use of the service.
